PresidentialElection2024/Constitutional Court demands recount of first-round valid and void ballots

The Constitutional Court of Romania (CCR) ordered on Thursday the Central Electoral Bureau to recount the valid and invalid votes cast in the first round of Romania's presidential election, the CCR said in a release.According to the cited source, the Constitutional Court plenum examined on Thursday the petition for the cancellation of Romania's November 24 presidential election filed by presidential contender Cristian Vasile Terhes, and unanimously voted for the re-check and recount of all the valid and void ballots cast in the election for the office of president of Romania.The Central Electoral Bureau shall submit to the CCR the results of the re-check and recount process.At the same meeting, the Constitutional Court unanimously rejected as tardy Sebastian-Constantin Popescu's request for cancellation of the November 24 election for the office of president of Romania, and postponed for Friday debates on the request of presidential candidate Cristian Terhes for the cancellation of the first round of voting, with the hearing scheduled for 14:00 hrs.  (Photo:https://www.ccr.ro/)
