PresidentialElection2025/Simion on supporting Ukraine: Romania's vote - only in accordance with interest of Romanian nation

June 5, 2025

AUR candidate in the presidential elections, George Simion, believes that Romania's vote for a new support package for Ukraine must be in line with the interest of the Romanian nation and "without prioritizing other states", emphasizing that his position towards Russia's war of aggression in Ukraine is "neutrality, not escalation"."I will vote only in accordance with the interest of the Romanian nation and without prioritizing other states. I love my country and I believe that Romanian farmers, I believe that Romanian pensioners must have priority, and our position towards Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine, which has already lasted for three years and is going nowhere, is neutrality, not escalation, not supplying weapons, perfect alignment with the policy of the Trump administration, of our strategic partner. Those who try to give from the country's budget, harming an already impoverished, mocked, undignified population, humiliated due to the cancellation of the elections, due to the standard of living, represent a mockery in the face of any man who says he is the leader of this country", George Simion stated on Thursday in the televised debate organized by Euronews. He added that, "after we are well, we can worry about the well-being of others.""It is time to push the country from ground up, to recover and look to the future. After we are well, we can worry about the well-being of others," George Simion pointed out.
