The European Green Party expressed their support for Nicusor Dan in the second round of presidential elections in Romania, to be held pm Sunday, a press release of the pan European party posted on its website europeangreens.eu shows. Romania is at a crossroad. The result of these elections will influence the role of the country in Europe in the years to come. George Simion, the far right candidate, would remove Romania from the European project and would undermine the support for Ukraine at a critical moment in regional security, according to EGP co-chairman Ciaran Cuffe. EGP co-chairman Vula Tsetsi said that the elections would define Romania's role in Europe for the next five years. The electors' demand for change can be understood but the answer is not the country's isolation and its getting closer to Russia. Young people should not pay the price for political disappointment. Despite the delay for Schengen accession, Europe remains the place where real progress is possible. Dan is the only candidate able to keep Romania strong in the heart of Europe, to defend democracy and protect the future, the representative of the European Greens added.
