Presidents Aleksandar Vucic and Nicusor Dan hold phone talks on Serbian-Romanian bilateral projects

December 10, 2025

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic held a phone conversation with his Romanian counterpart Nicusor Dan regarding all bilateral matters of importance to the two countries, Tanjug reported on Wednesday. In an Instagram post, Vucic wrote that the two countries share a centuries-old friendship, closeness and cooperation across all areas and expressed his conviction that there is still significant room to strengthen political dialogue and achieve visible progress in the dynamically growing economic relations."We are devoting special attention to major energy projects contributing to the security and stability of both states. One of the projects of the greatest significance is the Belgrade-Timisoara motorway, whereby we would connect our two cities with trips taking just an hour, and the route would strengthen our ties further and make life easier for citizens on both sides of the border," Vucic wrote. In the same post, he stated that the accession to the European Union remains Serbia's strategic objective."That is why we have set end-2026 as the deadline for carrying out all the necessary reforms, and we are grateful to Romania for supporting this process and for its readiness to share its expertise," the president said.Vucic also thanked Romania for its consistent and principled support for Serbia's sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as for its stance of non-recognition of the so-called Kosovo."That support is not only respect for international law, but also proof of the sincere friendship between our peoples," Vucic noted. On the other hand, he expressed his delight that Romania has confirmed its participation in EXPO 2027, which he described as a crucial event for the development of Serbia and the region.
