Prime Minister Bolojan meets Admiral Pierre Vandier: Romania supports Eastern Sentry project

Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan received on Tuesday, at Victoria Palace, Admiral Pierre Vandier, Supreme Allied Commander for Transformation - SACT, to discuss Romania's priorities within NATO and how the Romanian army and defense industry are adapting to the technological transformations necessary to face security challenges.According to a Government's release, the Prime Minister emphasized that Romania's objective is to strengthen the Alliance's deterrence position and a solid long-term defense policy, and the efforts to modernize the army and relaunch the national defense industry support this direction."Romania supports the Eastern Sentry project, aimed at ensuring increased vigilance and strengthening the deterrence role and defense capacity of the Eastern Flank, and will contribute to its implementation," the release said.The meeting also addressed issues related to how industrial cooperation between allies can be intensified and how to ensure the transfer of up-to-date technological solutions to support efforts to modernize capabilities."In this regard, close EU-NATO coordination and the use of EU instruments, such as the SAFE Program, must be maintained to increase investments and ensure the modernization of the national defense industry," according to the release.  (Photo:https://gov.ro/)
