PSD treasurer: AEP didn’t descend by force at the PSD headquarters, they were received “with open arms”

November 22, 2018

The treasurer of the Social Democrat Party (PSD), Mircea Draghici, wrote on Facebook on Wednesday that the inspectors of the Permanent Electoral Authority (AEP) didn’t enter “by force” in the party’s headquarter, but they were received “with open arms”, for an annual check on the activity of the political party in 2017. “First of all, it’s not about entering by force, no one entered by force – the inspectors were received with open arms at the Social Democrat Party’s headquarters, for the annual check they make. It’s a check to which all the political parties, not only PSD, are subjected. The check that is currently conducted at the party is scheduled since several months ago and is related to the year of 2017. We mention that it started on November 14! Don’t worry, there are no irregularities to be found, given that all the contracts have been made legally. Absolutely legally!”, the PSD Treasurer Mircea Draghici wrote on Facebook on Wednesday. The PSD Secretary General Codrin Stefanescu stated on Wednesday for MEDIAFAX that the Permanent Electoral Authority is conducting a “routine” check at the party’s headquarter, which is made annually for each political party. “It’s a routine check. There are two checks that are conducted annually. The checks are made for all the parties. The visit is announced, scheduled, there are accounting managers, papers are being filed, papers are being taken, it’s a procedure which is conducted twice a year”, the PSD Secretary General Codrin Stefanescu stated when asked if there is any check of the Permanent Electoral Authority (AEP) at the party’s headquarter. According to the law, AEP is entitled to check the observance of the legal provisions on the political parties’ revenues and expenditures. Also, political parties have the obligation to allow the access of the control bodies of the Permanent Electoral Authority. “Annually and whenever it is notified, the Permanent Electoral Authority checks the observance of the legal provisions related to the political parties’ revenues and expenditures, for each party. The Permanent Electoral Authority can be notified by any person presenting proves of non-observance of the legal provisions related to financing the political parties and the electoral campaigns”, states the Law no.334/2006 on financing the activity of the political parties.
