Radulescu (BNR) on administrative reform: A thorough reorganization is needed

March 15, 2026

The BNR governor adviser, Eugen Radulescu states, in connection to the administrative reform that a 'thorough reorganisation' is needed, a substantial reduction of the number of localities, of mayors, 'not 10% as it is supposed to happen now'. According to him, reorganisation is 'a very difficult task’ for any government, but Romania must choose if ‘it goes forward’ or ‘it marks time’ as, according to him, ‘there are no other solutions’.   Premier Ilie Bolojan said on Wednesday that the Ordnance regarding the reform in administration was sent to the Official Gazette for publication, saying that through this document ‘waste in administration’ will be reduced and Romania will have ‘a more efficient administration’, by bringing decisions ‘closer to the people’.   Premier Ilie Bolojan stated that the provisions included in the two normative documents regarding the reform of the administration and the package for economic recovery approved by the government on Tuesday obey the Constitution and also said that they were adopted without any commentaries and they had favourable agreements from all ministries.
