Regional security among topics addressed by Romanian, Georgian defmins

 The regional security situation, amid the Russian Federation's war of aggression in Ukraine, the measures taken by Romania to ensure the security of traffic in the Black Sea, Georgia's European path and the stage of bilateral cooperation in the field of defence were the main topics addressed on Wednesday by the Romanian Defence minister, Angel Tilvar, and his Georgian counterpart, Irakli Chikovani, a press release from the ministry informs.The Romanian minister of Defence assured his counterpart of Romania's support for Georgia's European aspirations, the continuation of reforms being necessary to ensure the obtaining of EU membership."The European Union has at its disposal a broad set of tools that can be used to help Georgia. I highlighted the advantages of belonging to the Euro-Atlantic community and added that it is very important that the progress made so far be strengthened and continued," minister Tilvar said.In his turn, the Georgian minister stressed the importance of the European Union Monitoring Mission (EUMM Georgia).Referring to the context of the North Atlantic Alliance, Minister Tilvar reiterated his constant support for intensifying political dialogue and practical cooperation with Georgia, "NATO offering a wide variety of training possibilities, which can be the necessary support for continuing reforms and achieving interoperability," the source says.The two officials stressed the importance of maintaining the political-military dialogue and continuing joint efforts dedicated to strengthening cooperation in the field of defence.
