Remains of a drone, found in area of Ceatalchioi, eastern Tulcea County

August 29, 2024

Remains of a drone were found on Wednesday in the area of Ceatalchioi in eastern Tulcea County, informs the Ministry of National Defense (MApN).In this context, the quoted source shows, the standard operating procedures for such situations were implemented.MApN reminds that in the last days the mixed teams of specialists from the ministry and from other specialized structures within the national system of defense, public order and national security, continued the legwork actions in the field to search for possible fragments of drones that fell, last week, on the Romanian bank of the Danube, as a result of the attacks carried out by the Russian forces on some Ukrainian civilian targets and port infrastructure. All the areas where it was reported that some fragments of drones fell were investigated, and so far, elements have been identified in the vicinity of the towns of Plauru and Periprava, in Tulcea County. As for other areas of incidence about which there were references in the public space regarding the possible fall of fragments of drones, such as Niculitel or Chilia, the searches did not confirm their presence.MApN specifies that all the places identified as areas of incidence are located outside the inhabited areas, not affecting people or infrastructure elements. Also, the Romanian ministry recalls that it informed and informs the allied structures in real time about the situations generated by the attacks, remaining in permanent contact with them. At the same time, it reiterates the firm message of condemnation of the attacks carried out by the Russian Federation against some objectives and elements of Ukrainian civil infrastructure, which are unjustified and in serious contradiction with the norms of international law.
