Romania's Ministry of National Defence said its radar surveillance system detected aerial targets near the localities of Chilia and Izmail at 4:39 am on Friday."The air defence systems were placed on alert, and an IAR 330 Puma SOCAT helicopter was prepared for take-off. The National Military Command Centre (core) notified the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU) to implement public warning measures for residents in the northern part of Tulcea County, and a RO-ALERT emergency message was issued at 4:41 am. No unauthorised incursions into Romanian airspace or incidents involving the impact of any aerial vehicle on national territory were reported. The air alert ended at 5:07 am," the Ministry of National Defence said in a press release.In the extreme alert message, residents of Tulcea County were warned of the possibility of objects falling from the air and were urged to take shelter."Take shelter in basements or civil protection shelters. If no shelter is available, remain inside your home, away from windows and exterior walls," the authorities said in the alert.The Ministry of National Defence added that it keeps allied structures informed in real time about such incidents and maintains permanent contact with them.
