Romania and Kazakhstan could develop trade by accessing Black Sea on East-West axis

October 8, 2025

Romania and Kazakhstan could develop their bilateral trade by accessing the Black Sea on the East-West axis, which would facilitate access for Kazakh entrepreneurs to European markets, the president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania (CCIR), Mihai Daraban said.He had an official meeting in Astana on Monday with the president of the Atameken International Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Murat Karimsakov.According to a CCIR press release, the discussions highlighted the desire of both parties to intensify bilateral cooperation, with an emphasis on the transport, agriculture and energy sectors, given the existence of a traditional economic relationship between companies from Romania and Kazakhstan."There are several Romanian companies working in Kazakhstan as subcontractors of the KazMunayGas company, but it is difficult to quantify the exact value of trade between the two countries, as long as Romanian products are present on the Kazakh market in finished form, thus entering the accounting of other countries. Together with President Atameken, we have established as a priority for the development of bilateral trade access to the Black Sea on the East-West axis, which will facilitate access for Kazakh entrepreneurs to European markets," said Mihai Daraban.According to him, another economic opportunity between the two countries is the food industry, by opening lines for processed products."Once the military conflict in this area ends, it is very possible that we will witness a decrease in grain prices. It is very important that, in the future, business people from Romania and Kazakhstan have as many business-to-business contacts as possible, as efficient exchanges of information as possible, thus conferring a high degree of mutual trust", the president of the Romanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry also said.  (Photo:https://ccir.ro/)
