Romania, hub for clean energy development, attracting transparent investments

August 17, 2025

Romania has become a hub for clean energy development, attracting transparent investments driven by genuine competition, while Contracts for Difference (CfD) mechanism offers stability to investors, Energy Minister Bogdan Ivan said."Romania - a record in green energy! In just one round of CfD auctions, we secured investments for 2,751 MW of clean, affordable energy ? 37% above the 2,000 MW target set under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP) and at prices up to 50% lower than the maximum thresholds. The results in brief: 1,488 MW from 26 solar projects and 1,263 MW from 23 wind projects," the minister wrote Wednesday on his Facebook page.According to him, the average winning prices were EUR 40.35/MWh for solar and EUR 73.89/MWh for wind."Exceeding the NRRP target proves that Romania is a center for clean energy development, attracting transparent investments based on real competition. Through the CfD mechanism, we provide stability for investors and accelerate the energy transition. Clean energy production capacity strengthens Romania's energy independence and brings the green future closer," the minister added.
