June 20, 2024

President Klaus Iohannis is one of the 17 heads of state who signed a joint declaration supporting a cease-fire agreement in the Israel-Hamas conflict, the Presidential Administration says. The declaration is also signed by the heads of state of the United States of America, Argentina, Austria, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Colombia, Denmark, France, Germany, Poland, Portugal, Serbia, Spain, Thailand and the UK."As leaders of countries deeply concerned about the situation of hostages held by Hamas in Gaza, including many of our own citizens, we fully support the efforts for a ceasefire agreement and the release of the hostages, which is now on the discussion table and which was presented by President Biden on May 31, 2024. There is no more time to lose.
