Austria has proposed to send Romania 1,075 packages of various medicines for emergency medical care, while France will send additional 89,030 bottles of medicines, 18 mechanical ventilators, as well as medical equipment and accessories, in response to the request for assistance for the treatment of the large number of COVID-19 patients that our country made through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism, informed, on Thursday, the Representation Office of the European Commission in Bucharest. To these are added 200 oxygen concentrators from the strategic medical reserve rescEU hosted by the Netherlands, 50 oxygen concentrators from Poland, 5,200 vials of monoclonal antibodies from Italy, as well as 15 mechanical ventilators and eight oxygen concentrators delivered last week to Romania by Denmark. At the beginning of the week, a medical team from the Republic of Moldova arrived in Romania to provide specialized medical care, and patients accompanied by doctors are transported to Hungary for treatment. The EC Representation Office brings to mind that Romania requested financial assistance from the EU for this operation through the Instrument for Emergency Support."I am pleased to note that the momentum of solidarity between the Member States has not abated, at a time when Romania continues to face a rapid increase in COVID-19 cases. I would like to thank Austria, France, Hungary and Moldova for their assistance to Romania. The pandemic is still a harsh reality, and the EU 's solidarity once again proves its values," Crisis Commissioner Janez Lenarcic was quoted as saying.Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the EU's Civil Protection Mechanism has coordinated and co-financed the delivery of more than 190 million medical and personal protective equipment, strengthened the capacity of hospitals with additional medical staff, and provided vaccines and other essential equipment. In over 55 countries. The European Union has also created the rescEU strategic medical reserve.
