Romania, Turkey agree to carry on political-military dialogue in all cooperation formats

The political-military dialogue between Romania and Turkey represents a valuable tool for harmonizing points of view on topics of interest, the Romanian Defence minister Angel Tilvar and his Turkish counterpart, Yasar Guler, said on Thursday, and agreed to continue it within all cooperation formats, a press release by the Ministry of National Defence, where the two dignitaries met, reads.During the bilateral talks, current topics regarding security and cooperation in the field of defense were addressed, the dialogue focusing on topics such as the challenges in the Black Sea region, against the background of the developments in Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine, support for Ukraine, bilateral cooperation and in the framework ally between Romania and Turkey.The Romanian minister welcomed the entry into the operationalization stage of the operative group for combating sea mines in the Black Sea and emphasized the urgent need for this regional initiative to start concrete actions to counter the danger represented by drifting sea mines, thus contributing to maintaining the safety of navigation routes in the Black Sea."Romania is ready to participate with capabilities and personnel in the operative group for combating sea mines in the Black Sea and we will continue to work with our partners in Turkey and Bulgaria in order to operationalize the initiative as quickly as possible," Angel Tilvar said.Moreover, the Romanian minister of Defense appreciated the very good level of cooperation between the Romanian and Turkish armed forces on all components, as well as the cooperation in the technical field between the two armies.
