April 3, 2025

Trade between Romania and Vietnam in the first 11 months of 2024 was standing at USD 402.2 million, up 11.3% year-on-year, according to the Bucharest Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIB).Out of the USD 402.2 million, exports were worth USD 91.8 million and imports USD 310.4 million dollars, with the trade balance disfavouring Romania. In the 11 months of 2024 (available data), the total volume of bilateral trade increased by 11.3% on an increase in imports by 21.8%, while Romanian exports decreased by 7.8%.According to a CCIB press statement released on Wednesday, CCIB chairman Iuliu Stocklosa welcomed on March 4 two representatives of the Embassy of Vietnam, Pham Thi Thu Ha, and Nguyen Trong Hoang Son.The meeting was also attended by Gabriela Iftene, executive director, and Nadjet Ranete, a CCIB foreign affairs official.According to CCIB, the idea of collaboration with the embassy in order to promote trade, economic cooperation, including reciprocal foreign investments between the business communities of Bucharest and Vietnam was emphasised at the meeting. An important aspect was the proposal to organize a CCIB event, "Vietnam Business Opportunities Day" (ZOA), which will take place at the end of April. The event will bring together Romanian and Vietnamese entrepreneurs and investors in a hybrid format that will allow both physical and virtual participation. The main purpose of the event is to discuss the opportunities for economic development and bilateral cooperation.Nguyen Trong Hoang Son is quoted as saying that Romania and Vietnam have excellent relations, with the diplomatic ties established on February 3, 1950 and celebrating this year 75 years of collaboration."Our mission is to bring trade and economic relations to a level that matches the economic and social development, an important aspect in market expansion being represented by the large populations of the two countries in their geographical areas, which offer a generous basis for cooperation, thus facilitating prosperous and diversified economic and commercial exchanges. We will firmly support achieving this goal," the Vietnamese official said.At the end of the visit, the guests toured the CCIB Palace and the spaces that can host future events to promote bilateral economic, cultural and other collaborations.  (Photo: www.ccib.ro
