Romania will have 13 companies included in FTSE Russell indices dedicated to Emerging Markets, starting with September, after the announcement of the global index provider FTSE Russell regarding the inclusion of the companies Aquila Part Prod Com (AQ) and Cris-Tim Family Holding (CFH) in FTSE Global All Cap indices, announced the Bucharest Stock Exchange. (BVB). The indicative results of the half-yearly review announced on Friday, 21 August, by FTSE Russell will take effect from 21 September 2026, but may be subject to change until the close of business on 4 September 2026. 'Following the review, Aquila Part Prod Com (AQ) and Cris-Tim Family Holding (CFH) will be included in the FTSE Global All Cap indices. All the other eight Romanian companies included in the FTSE Global All Cap indices will retain their place in these indices, meaning that, for the first time, the number of Romanian companies included in the FTSE Global All Cap indices will reach 10’, according to a press release published on the BVB website. According to the cited source, Electrica (EL) shares will move from the Mid Cap category to the Large Cap category, and following the review, Conpet (COTE) shares will be included in the FTSE Global Micro Cap indices alongside two other Romanian companies that retain their inclusion in these indices. Consequently, from September onwards, Romania will have 13 companies included in the FTSE Russell indices dedicated to emerging markets: 10 companies in the FTSE Global All Cap indices and three companies in the FTSE Global Micro Cap indices. The ten companies in the FTSE Global All Cap indices are: Aquila Part Prod Com (AQ), Banca Transilvania (TLV), Cris-Tim Family Holding (CFH), Electrica (EL), Hidroelectrica (H2O), MedLife (M), Nuclearelectrica (SNN), One United Properties (ONE), Teraplast (TRP) and TTS Transport Trade Services (TTS). Furthermore, Electrica (EL) shares will move from the Mid Cap category to the Large Cap category. The three companies included in the FTSE Global Micro Cap indices are: Arobs Transilvania Software (AROBS), the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB) and Conpet (COTE), whilst Simtel Team (SMTL) shares will no longer be part of these indices. 'The inclusion of Aquila Part Prod Com and Cris-Tim Family Holding in the FTSE Global All Cap indices, alongside the continued inclusion of the other Romanian companies, confirms the progress of our market and the ability of local issuers to meet the criteria of international institutional investors. We congratulate the teams at Aquila and Cris-Tim Family Holding on this achievement. Romania now has, for the first time, 10 companies in the FTSE Global All Cap indices, strengthening our market’s representation and visibility within the global investment universe,’ said Remus Vulpescu, CEO of the Bucharest Stock Exchange, in the quoted press release. Romania was upgraded to Emerging Market status by the global index provider FTSE Russell back in 2020, in recognition of the development of its capital market. This recognition has created new opportunities for the Romanian capital market, paving the way to a much broader investment universe. The international exposure of Romanian companies means attracting new investors and greater demand for Romanian assets, which will result in a higher valuation of listed companies and an increase in the local market capitalisation, emphasise BVB representatives. Furthermore, in June last year, the global index provider MSCI classified the Romanian capital market as an ‘Advanced Frontier Market’, in recognition of the high level of accessibility of the Romanian capital market to international investors. Currently, 35 Romanian companies are included in the MSCI indices.
