Romanian building entrepreneurs skeptical about participating in Ukraine's reconstruction

April 24, 2025

Romanian building entrepreneurs are skeptical they will be able to participate in Ukraine's reconstruction, showed the debate “Forecast Bruch, forum of managers in the building materials and equioment industry”, held in Bucharest, on Thursday.   Iulian Bucur, the sales manager of Caretta Romania, the manufacturer of metal tile roofs, said that Ukraine's reconstruction had started some time ago. “Ukraine's reconstruction began at the same time with the war. The Americans invested immediately. The Poles already had in Ukraine materials to build warehouses there when the war started. Therefore, reconstruction has started and important players do not think we willl be the ones,” Caretta representative said.   According to him, when Ukraine's reconstruction officially starts, the price of raw materials used by the company will be one in Ukraine and another, higher one, in Romania, “the same as it was during the pandemic,” Agerpres writes.   “The reconstruction of Ukraine will not be madde with Romania's support. We had businesses there and it is hard to compete. They have a very good work style, they are good, competitive workers, they are many and well prepared. There are a lot of producers from Ukranie they already export a lot in Romania now, during the war. So I doubt we will be the ones to save and rebuild Ukraine. I do not thinl we will be part of reconstruction,” said another entrepreneur, Petru Ruben Ursachi, the founder of Ursaki RSP Group, a company executing industrial and civilian buildings.   At the same time, Romanian entrepreneurs fear that trained labour drom Romania might go to the neighbour country after the war. Architect Flrin Enache, Brand Ambassador at Equitone Romania says that most probably, Romanian workers and specialists would be subcontracted by larger companies from other countries, which are already on the reconstruction list.   Vindem-Ieftin.ro, in partnership with Alt.Real, organized in Bucharest, the second edition of Forecast Brunch, the forum of managers from the building materials and equipment industry. The event gathered market players, next to representatives of the building press.
