The Government approved on Thursday the signing of an agreement with Germany regarding the temporary stationing of members of the armed forces of the two states on the territory of the other state.The agreement to be signed regulates the entry, exit and stationing of up to 3,000 members of the Romanian and German armed forces (military personnel of the armed forces of the two states, as well as the civilian component) in the facilities of the host state, for a limited period of time which, as a rule, will not exceed 30 days."Through this Memorandum, the Government approved the signing of the Agreement with the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany on the temporary stationing of members of the armed forces of the two states on the territory of the other state, for the purpose of conducting exercises, training units or land transit, as well as for the execution of humanitarian missions and search and rescue operations, in compliance with national legislation, international norms and the NATO Status of Forces Agreement (NATO SOFA)", according to a Government's press release.The document establishes the necessary legal framework for public safety and order, hygiene and public health, criminal jurisdiction, communications, logistics, environmental protection and military cooperation, in accordance with Romanian legislation and international obligations."Through this document, which meets the conditions of a treaty according to Law no. 590/2003, Romania and Germany consolidate bilateral relations and joint response capacity, supporting deterrence and defense efforts on the Eastern Flank and strengthening the Euro-Atlantic security architecture through clear, predictable and compatible mechanisms with international law," the press release further reads.
