People living in cities will allocate an average budget of 310 lei for gifts to be offered for St Nicholas day, while 90% of respondents announced they would purchase different products, according to a study made by Mednet Marketing Research Center. 93.2% of respondents from towns with less than 100,000 inhabitants announced they would purchase gifts, while in big towns only 87.7% will do it. Last year less than 80% of people from big cities expressed their intention to buy gifts for St Nicholas day. The gifts will be diversified but sweets will dominate, over 80% of townspeople saying they intended to buy them for their loved ones. Toys are in the top of preferences, next to clothes/footwear, cosmetics/ perfumes and fruit. Over 12% of townspeople intend to offer smart phones or tablets. The study was made on a representative sample of 800 persons at urban level (small towns under 30,000 inhabitants, medium size towns 30,000-100,000 inhabitants, large towns over 100,000 inhabitants) over November 26-December 2, 2015. The margin of error is +/- 3.46%.
