Romanians’ budget for St Nicholas gifts

December 23, 2015

People living in cities will allocate an average budget of 310 lei for gifts to be offered for St Nicholas day, while 90% of respondents announced they would purchase different products, according to a study made by Mednet Marketing Research Center. 93.2% of respondents from towns with less than 100,000 inhabitants announced they would purchase gifts, while in big towns only 87.7% will do it. Last year less than 80% of people from big cities expressed their intention to buy gifts for St Nicholas day. The gifts will be diversified but sweets will dominate, over 80% of townspeople saying they intended to buy them for their loved ones. Toys are in the top of preferences, next to clothes/footwear, cosmetics/ perfumes and fruit. Over 12% of townspeople intend to offer smart phones or tablets. The study was made on a representative sample of 800 persons at urban level (small towns under 30,000 inhabitants, medium size towns 30,000-100,000 inhabitants, large towns over 100,000 inhabitants) over November 26-December 2, 2015. The margin of error is +/- 3.46%.
