Romania's economic growth reaches 5.7% in 2021

Romania's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) grew by 5.7% in 2021 in real terms, y-o-y, according to the final data published on Thursday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).The GDP estimated for 2021, final data, amounted to RON 1,189.089 billion current prices, increasing in real terms by +5.7% as against 2020.In 2021, most significant changes in the contribution to GDP growth between the two estimates were reported for: agriculture, forestry and fishery, from +0.2% to +0.6%, on an increase in activity volume by +7.8 percentage points (from 105.9% to 113.7%); construction, from -0.5% to +0.1%, on an increase in activity volume by +9.6 percentage points (from 91.9% to 101.5%); wholesale and retail; repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles; transportation and storage; hotels and restaurants, from +1.8% to +2.6%, on an increase in activity volume by +4.1 percentage points (from 109.9% to 114.0%); information and communications, from +0.3% to +0.7%, on an increase in activity volume by +5.9 percentage points (from 105.4% to 111.3%); professional, scientific and technical activities; administrative and support Services from +0.1% to +0.2%, on an increase in activity volume by +1.8 percentage points (from 101.6% to 103.4%)In 2021, the most important changes in the contribution to GDP growth between the two estimates were reported in individual final consumption expenditure of general government, from +0.2% to +0.3%, on a rising volume by +0.9 percentage points (from 103.1% to 104.0%); gross fixed capital formation, from +0.4% to +0.7%, on a rising volume by +1.0 percentage points (from 101.9% to 102.9%); change in inventories, from +1.7% to +1.8%; net exports of goods and services, from -1.6% to -1.4%.
