Schneider Electric Romania helps drive Armenia's Firebird AI megaproject, shaping a Caucasus innovation hub

July 30, 2026

Schneider Electric will build a next-generation data center and AI supercomputer in Armenia's Kotayk province, with Schneider Electric Romania playing a key implementation role.According to the company, Schneider Electric Romania directly supported the delivery of the medium-voltage package, UPS systems and key project components - including low-voltage equipment and Motivair advanced cooling - working with local and regional partners. The Firebird AI project, developed with the Armenian Government and supported technologically by NVIDIA, represents a major step in creating a regional innovation hub in the Caucasus. With an estimated investment in the hundreds of millions of dollars and a planned capacity of over 100 MW, the infrastructure will accelerate AI adoption across the industry, research and academia. Firebird AI positions Armenia among the world's top five GPU-based AI clusters and one of the country's largest technology-driven capital investments.Schneider Electric is a key partner, supplying critical data-center infrastructure solutions. In the first phase, of roughly 15 MW, the company delivered an integrated portfolio including UPS systems, medium- and low-voltage equipment and advanced power-distribution solutions.Romania's Schneider Electric team and its ecosystem of certified Romanian integrators and switchboard manufacturers also contributed, reinforcing Romania's role as a regional hub for critical-infrastructure expertise.Country General Manager Lucian Enaru said the project highlights both the scale of AI-driven transformation and the essential role of optimized energy infrastructure, noting Romania's direct contribution to a strategic initiative. The data center will integrate thousands of NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs and is designed for high-density AI workloads, requiring advanced cooling, resilience and energy-efficiency standards. Schneider Electric brings global expertise in sustainable, efficient data-center development through combined electrical infrastructure, digitalization and intelligent energy management. The project is in its first implementation phase; a second, more than twice as large, was confirmed in February. Schneider Electric's involvement in this initial phase opens further opportunities for regional collaboration.
