Robert Waltl, the personality proposed by the Ljubljana Jewish Cultural Center for the National Award 'Ambassador Mihnea Constantinescu' National Award for outstanding merits in combating antisemitism, xenophobia, radicalization and hate speech, was officially presented with the distinction on Thursday, at an event attended by Foreign Minister Emil Hurezeanu, the Foreign Ministry informs.Actor and theater and festival director Robert Waltl is a complex and prolific figure of contemporary Slovenian culture. He is a member of the Slovenian delegation to the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA), coordinator and initiator of numerous educational and artistic projects to combat antisemitism, xenophobia, radicalization and hate speech, an active promoter of inclusion and tolerance, and of preserving the memory of Holocaust victims.Minister Hurezeanu highlighted on this occasion Romania's firm commitment to promoting and supporting research, education and commemoration of the Holocaust and the need for innovative approaches aimed at combating the negative phenomena that continue to affect our societies and democratic values.The event was attended by ambassadors of IHRA member countries, members of the Interministerial Committee for Monitoring the Implementation of the National Strategy for Preventing and Combating Antisemitism, Xenophobia, Radicalization and Hate Speech, academia representatives, high-ranking officials and representatives of state and cultural institutions, along with representatives of the 'Ambassador Mihnea Constantinescu' Association.
