“Songs of the Union” – a concert dedicated to Romania’s Centenary, at the Radio Hall

October 18, 2018

On the occasion of the anniversary Romania’s Centenary, the Radio Academic Choir invites the interested public, on Thursday, October 25 (at 7.00 PM), to the Radio Hall, to an extraordinary concert entitled “Cantecele Unirii” (“Songs of the Union” – e.n.). The event is symbolically scheduled on the date on which the Romanian Army Day is celebrated every year. Under the musical direction of conductor CIPRIAN TUTU, the Radio Academic Choir suggests an exciting program for you, which brings together religious creations, as well as songs of folkloric inspiration, famous patriotic songs, works evoking key personalities or moments from Romania’s history. Some of the songs you will listen are: fragments from the operetta “Crai Nou” and “E scris pe tricolor UNIRE” by Ciprian Porumbescu, “Trompetele rasuna” by Gavriil Musicescu, “Treceti batalioane romane Carpatii”, “Ce-ti doresc eu tie, dulce Romanie!” by Constantin Constantinescu, “Hora Unirii” by Alexandru Flechtenmacher and others. Arrangements are signed by Ioan Dobrinescu. Soloists Olga Murariu Caia, Grazziela Frangulea, Cristian Paraschiv, Aurel Frangulea, Cristian Ruja and Ciprian Cucu will participate in the event dedicated to the Centenary of the Great Union, being accompanied by pianist Carmen Sandulescu. The concert will be presented by actress Claudia Motea. “On October 25, the Academic Choir suggests to the public and radio listeners a travel in time, in the history of the Romanian people, through choral music. Being entitled ‘Songs of the Union’, our concert has a double significance: the celebration of 100 years since Greater Romania was founded, as well as the celebration of the Romanian Army Day. The event brings to the audience’s attention old patriotic and revolutionary Romanian songs, choral arrangements of folkloric inspiration, as well as religious creations performed for the first time, symbolically promoting the theme of the union through the choral singing”, stated Ciprian Tutu, the conductor of the Radio Academic Choir. Ciprian Tutu, who is the conductor of the Radio Academic Choir since 2016, has proposed a diversification and modernization of the ensemble’s repertoire. Born in Brasov, he graduated the classes of the Faculty of Music in his hometown (the specialization Musical Pedagogy – conducting an academic choir and master in Conducting Stylistics). In 2013, he presented his PhD. thesis at the National University of Music of Bucharest, and in 2015 he graduated the postdoctoral classes at the Transilvania University of Brasov, whose research theme was Human Voice and Its Implications in the Contemporary Choral Performance. The concert will be recorded and broadcasted on Friday, November 2, on all the Radio Romania Cultural and Radio Romania Muzical frequencies from the country, and also in live streaming on the Internet, at www.radioromaniacultural.ro and www.romania-muzical.ro. Tickets for the concerts held by the Radio Orchestras and Choirs are available at www.bilete.ro, at the Posta Romana offices, in the Inmedio stores bearing the logo bilete.ro and at the Ticket Office of the Radio Hall.
