Statistics: Postal services, medicines and detergents, in the list of price increases in July 2024

Postal services, medicines and detergents are in the list of price increases recorded in July 2024, compared to the same month of the previous year, according to data published on Monday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).Thus, the price of postal services rose last month by 26.59%, compared to July 2023, that of medicines by 24.02%, and that of detergents by 20.65%.As for food products, they became more expensive, on average, by 1.71% compared to July 2023. The biggest price increases were recorded for canned fruit (9.72%), other food products (8%) and wine (7.82%).Depreciations were recorded in flour (-30.5%), milling products (-28.55%) and corn flour (-25.96%).Compared to June 2024, the prices of citrus fruits and other southern fruits (1.84%), flour (1.28%) and milling products (0.89%) increased the most. On the other hand, potatoes were cheaper by 4.54% in July 2024 compared to the previous month, fresh fruit by 3.66% and fruit and canned fruit by 0.96%.In the chapter of non-food goods, in July 2024, compared to July 2023, medicines increased in price the most, by 24.02%, detergents, by 20.65%, and medical articles by 19.75%. Instead, gas became cheaper by 9.39%, electricity cost 1.97% less, and thermal energy recorded a price drop of 0.9%.Compared to the previous month, in July 2024, fuels cost more by 2.94%, electricity recorded an increase of 1.12%, and gas was more expensive by 1.08%. According to the INS, in this category there was a decrease of 0.04% in leather footwear.Regarding services, in the last year the rates for postal services increased the most by 26.59%, air transport services (15.65%) and water, sewer, sanitation 15.62%. No discounts were recorded.In July 2024, compared to the previous month, price increases were recorded for air transport services (17.56%), water, sewer, sanitation (2.01%) and other industrial services (1.34%). Decreases were recorded in telephone services, by 0.1%.The annual inflation rate rose, in July 2024, to 5.42%, from 4.94% in June, in the conditions in which food products rose in price by 1.71%, non-food products by 6.92%, and services by 8.52%, according to the data published on Monday by the National Institute of Statistics.
