Telekom Romania announces a new edition of Teimplici.ro project contest, which aims to identify and fund initiatives developed by non-governmental organizations that have the objective of reducing school dropout in urban areas. Under the “Education for a new generation” umbrella, Teimplici.ro, 2018 edition aims to provide funds up to 30,000 euros for each selected project. The total funding amount for this year’s project edition is 60,000 euros. “Unfortunately, the dropout rate in Romania remains high, which makes this phenomenon one of the biggest challenges of our national education system. In this context, we wanted through this year’s edition of Teimplici project to help young people who dropout school and to contribute to combating this worrying trend. Together with the selected NGOs, we will support teenagers aged 12 to 20 to continue their studies. Firstly, we will focus our efforts on reducing the dropout rate in urban area, but we would like that Teimplici project to continue in this direction also in the future and to attract more and more organizations involved in this kind of educational projects, including in rural areas, where the phenomenon of school dropout is more evident”, stated Ruxandra Vodă, Corporate Communications Director, Telekom Romania. Non-governmental organizations can register up to two projects each, on Teimplici.ro platform. Project submission period is 29 October – 18 November 2018, 23.59. Through Teimplici.ro platform will be funded projects that are implemented in Romania, in the urban area, which address adolescents and young people aged between 12 and 20 years old. An important criterion in selecting projects is the use of technology solutions or the inclusion of new technologies to achieve objectives and scale the impact (for instance, developing educational platforms, mobile applications, online courses, online counselling, mobile learning clubs). The expected outcomes take into consideration the students’ behaviour and attitudes towards school, reducing the absenteeism rate, increasing school performance, as premises for reaching the final goal, namely reducing the dropout rates. The projects will be evaluated between November 19th – 23rd, 2018. Seven finalist projects will be selected. In the second stage, on 7th of December 2018, the 7 projects will be presented to the jury and the winners of Teimplici.ro 2018 edition will be announced.
