Ten-fold drop of profit of companies on gambling market in Romania

The profits recorded by the companies that are active on the gambling market in Romania have decreased ten-fold, down to the value of 187 million RON, in 2020, from over 1 billion RON, the year previously, shows an analysis conducted by the specialists of the termene.ro specialty platform.At the same time, the local gambling market recorded a decline of approximately 50 pct, superior as a share even to the HoReCa industry, which only contracted 30 pct.According to termene.ro, in terms of value, the year 2020 meant a drop in income, from 10 billion RON (value recorded at the level of 2019) to 5.13 billion RON (value recorded at the end of 2020). In 2018, the income of companies that are active in this domain was of 9.16 billion RON.In what regards the human resource, the drastic drop in income resulted in the decrease in the number of employees, from 27,600 in 2019 to fewer than 18,400 in 2020.From the point of view of companies that reported financial situations for each year analyzed, the trend is, also, dropping.
