The 2025 edition of the Transilvania International Film Festival (TIFF) kicks off in Cluj-Napoca on Friday, June 13, with 200 films to be screened until June 22."On Friday, June 13, the 24th edition of the Transilvania International Film Festival (June 13-22, 2025), the most important cinematographic event in Romania, begins. It is the start of a 10-day marathon with 200 films in the programme (172 feature films and 28 shorts) from 53 countries, selected from a total of over 1,000 titles watched by the curatorial team led by artistic director Mihai Chirilov," reads a press release of the organizers.Among the guests of the first weekend of TIFF are Oscar and Golden Globe winner Danis Tanovic, who will be present at the open-air screening in Unirii Square of his latest film, "My Late Summer," Uberto Pasolini, renowned director and producer, a regular at the festival, who will present his latest film, "The Return," starring Ralph Fiennes and Juliette Binoche, as well as part of the team of the film "Marco, the Invented Truth": directors Aitor Arregi and Jon Garano, alongside actor Eduard Fernandez, who won a Goya for this role.As of Saturday, there will be performed a series of concerts at the Art Museum, with a live show by the band Eyedrops, and three photography exhibitions to take place there, two of which are by Cosmin Bumbut and Hajdu Tamas.The first day of the weekend at Banffy Castle will feature the cult film "Rocky Horror Picture Show" and a concert by the British post-punk duo The KVB. On Sunday, there will be an unmissable screening: "The Invisible Fight," directed by Rainer Sarnet, a unique and captivating combination of death metal and martial arts, and the evening concert will be provided by the legendary psychedelic rock and punk band VHK from Central Europe.Among others, twelve film productions are in the running for the Transylvania Trophy and the other awards of the official competition at the Transilvania International Film Festival (TIFF), while another ten films will compete for the What's Up Doc? competition award.TIFF is organized over June 13-22 by the Association for the Promotion of Romanian Film and the Transilvania Film Festival Association, with the support of the Ministry of Culture, the National Centre of Cinematography, the City Hall and Local Council of Cluj-Napoca, and the Romanian Cultural Institute.
