The 20th edition of the MERIDIAN International Festival, between November 1 and 9

  The 20th anniversary edition of the MERIDIAN International Festival, one of the most important contemporary music festivals in the country, organized by the Union of Composers and Musicologists of Romania, will take place between November 1 and 9, in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Timisoara and Iasi.According to a press release, the theme of the festival, SONIMAGICON, explores the close relationship between music and image, in all its forms, through an eclectic feast: video-art (3D animations, short films, live video interactions) and new music, contemporary dance and performance, fashion recital-exhibition, underground percussion, hybrid radio-tv show, electronic music and sound-performing installation.''The Romanian Composers and Musicologists' Union celebrates this year the 20th edition of the MERIDIAN International Festival, which has gained notoriety among the most important events in the country dedicated to new music. In 2025, the festival will take place between November 1 and 9 with the theme SONIMAGICON: Sound, Image, Magic, Icon(ic). Established in recent years as a chamber festival focused on interdisciplinary collaborations and electronic music, MERIDIAN, organized by SNR-SIMC, aims to attract the public from Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Timisoara and Iasi to the colorful and always surprising world of current musical creation through a unique and diverse program that contains 28 events with exciting titles and proposals,'' the organizers inform.The international scope of this festival is given by the integration of the organizer SNR-SIMC (a structure established within UCMR) into the International Society for Contemporary Music (ISCM), the oldest and most powerful organization of this kind in the world, with representatives in over 50 countries.
