The cyber attack on Electrica belonged to the Lynx Ransomware group; experts recommend using the Yara scan script

  The cyberattack of Monday on the critical systems of the Electrica Group was made by the group of cybercrime Lyns Ransomware informs the National Directorate for Cyber Security (DNSC) in a press release sent on Wednesday."DNSC advises all entities, especially those in the energy sector, whether or not they have been affected by the ransomware attack, backed by the Lynx Ransomware cybercrime group, to scan their own IT&C infrastructure for the malicious binary (encryptor) using the Yara scan script," the release said. In the same context, the experts in cyber security recommend that, in the event of ransomware infection, not to pay the requested ransom by the attackers.The Electrica Group announced in a press release sent to the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB) on Monday that it has been subject to a cyber-attack and that its specialised teams are working with the national cyber-security authorities to manage and remedy the incident. On the same day, the Energy Ministry said that the cyberattack on the computer systems of Distribu?ie Energie Electric? Romania (DEER) was ransomware, but the network equipment is not affected, while the SCADA system is isolated and fully functional, the Energy Ministry said on Monday.   The Electrica group is a keyp player on the market of distribution, supply and production of electricity in Romania,as well as one of the most important players in the sector of energy services.The company offers services for approximately four million users and has a national coverage area – with organization in three zones for the distribution of electricity: Transilvania Nord, Transilvania Sud, Muntenia Nord and in the whole country for supply of electricity and maintenance and electricity services.Starting with 2014, Electrica is a company with private majority capital listed on the Bucharest and London stock exchanges. Electrica is the only Romanian listed company in the field of electricity distribution and supply.
