The European Commissioner for Home Affairs and Migration, Magnus Brunner, will be on an official visit to Bucharest on Monday, https://europeannewsroom.com/ informs.   The European Commissioner for Home Affairs and Migration, Magnus Brunner, will be on an official visit to Bucharest on Monday where he will meet with the President of Romania, Nicusor Dan, the Prime Minister of Romania, Ilie Bolojan, Deputy Prime Minister, the Minister of Internal Affairs, Catalin Predoiu, and representatives of the committees for European affairs and defense from the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate of Romania.   The visit takes place in the context of the Commission intensifying its support through the European internal security strategy, ProtectEU, to combat human trafficking, organized crime, the protection of critical infrastructure, and the online dimension of crime, announces the European Commission’s Representation in Romania in a press release.   Commissioner Brunner wishes to engage directly in the security challenges faced by Romania, which is a key pillar of the European security architecture. We have much to learn from Romania, which successfully protects its external borders and counters hybrid threats from Russia, including disinformation campaigns and drone incursions. In response, the Commission will launch the European Democracy Shield this year and the European Defense Initiative against drones next year. The Commission is making an additional 250 million euros available for civilian drones and drone countermeasures – the statement says.(19.10.2025)
