The ‘Namaste India’ festival – between the 2nd and 20th March, in Bucharest and Cluj-Napoca

The 12th edition of the festival ‘Namaste India’ having as main theme the representation of the Indian woman in art, culture and society will take place in Bucharest and Cluj-Napoca, between the 2nd and 20th March.According to a press release sent on Monday,through films, books, textile art exhibitions and photos, speeches and conferences, the Romanian public will be invited to get into the universe of the Indian woman, keeper of the traditional outfit, symbol of grace, interior force and loyalty, as well as fighter for the right to equality of chances and valuable participant to the family and the society.The public in Bucharest will be able to visit, between 7th and 20th March, at the National Library of Romania, the photo exhibition’ The Atlas of beauty in India’ by Mihaela Noroc, the atmosphere created being, at the same time, for two weeks, the space for presentations to approach subjects such as’Myth, tradition, symbols and significance of the sari’ and ‚Reflection of the woman in the work of Rabindranath Tagore’.In Cluj-Napoca, the festival will start with a series of four events hosted on 12th and 13th March by the Museum for Ethnography of Transylvania.   On 12th March, starting 3 pm, the Casa Cartii de Stiinta Publishing House will launch the volume ‘Daughters of India, the event being followed from 4 pm by the exhibition ’ Introduction in the Indian textile art’ presented by Rajkumari, the brand created by Anamaria Lazar from the desire to integrate the Indian art in the urban contemporary fashion of the European woman. On 13th March, the public will assist to two representations with the theme ‘Impact of the theatre and art of the Indian show in Europe’ and ‘ Revigoration and detoxification from the perspective of Yoga and Ayurveda’.In both cities, the programme of the festival will include five movies with feminine issue, programmed between the 2nd and 7th March at Cinema  hall Elvire Popesco and between 15th and 19th March at cinema hall Arta in Cluj-Napoca.The programme of the festival is available on the site www.namasteindia.ro.   The event is organised by the Cultural Centre ‘Rabindranath Tagore’ with the support of the Embassy of India in Romania, the ministry of culture of India, the National Film Division Corporation and Incredible India.Initiated in 2010, the festival ‘Namaste India’ is the most ample event in Romania dedicated to Indian culture, edition 12th being in the series of events organised all over the world on the occasion of 75 years since the Independence of India.
