The presidential elections will take place in September

March 20, 2024

The presidential elections will take place in September, Prime Minister and Social Democratic Party (PSD) Chairman Marcel Ciolacu said on Wednesday, after the meeting of the governing coalition. He also referred to the advantages of merging the elections for the European Parliament with the local ones."The fact that we decided to do this merger is not something against democracy, but, on the contrary, an extra vote for democracy and for a fair representation for Romanians. We decided, and I thank my colleagues from the PSD, today, as well as my colleagues from the PNL, to have an electoral alliance for the European Parliament elections," said Marcel Ciolacu at the end of the decisive meeting of the coalition on the organisation of the elections, held at the Palace of Parliament on Wednesday afternoon.Earlier, National Liberal Party (PNL) Chairman Nicolae Ciuca said that the elections for the European Parliament will be merged with the local ones and will take place in June, and the PSD and PNL will go on joint lists for the elections for the European Parliament and separately for the local elections.
