TIFF to bring over 20 movies in Sibiu, between July 7-10

The Transilvania International Film Festival (TIFF) returns to Sibiu, between July 7-10, during which more than 20 films will be screened for the first time, and concerts will take place in Huet Square, Habermann Markt and at Cine Gold, in an edition titled "Make Films, not War", the organizers' response to the war in Ukraine and a call to creation, not destruction, informs a press release sent by the organizers on Monday.The tickets were sold on tiff.eventbook.ro, as well as on the TIFF official app.During the first day of festival, July 7, viewers will be invited to watch the Official Competition, a film that was applauded at the Venice and San Sebastian festivals. The most recent production of the Argentinean director duo Mariano Cohn and GastA?n Duprat will offer spectators the chance to see Antonio Banderas, Penelope Cruz and Oscar Martinez once again on the big screen.Also on Thursday there will be a viewing of Operation Mincemeat, directed by John Madden, with Colin Firth as leading role.The TIFF Sibiu program also includes the most awaited Romanian films of the season: Metronom, directed by Alexandru Belc, winner of the Directing Award in the Un Certain Regard section at Cannes 2022, will be screened in Habermann Markt on Friday, July 8th. The list of Romanian films continues with the premiere of Weddings, christenings and funerals (directed by Alexandru Lustig), with Serban Pavlu in the leading role, but also with the preview Balaur (Dragon) (directed by Octav Chelaru), Nimic despre Dragoste (Nothing about love, directed by Florin Piersic Jr.), but also Pentru Mine Tu esti Ceausescu (You Are Ceausescu to Me, directed by Sebastian Mihailescu), the documentary that won the prize in the What's Up, Doc? at TIFF 2022, or Miracol (Miracle, directed by Bogdan George Apetri), the feature film that won the Romanian Film Days award at TIFF 2022. Some of the film teams from the program will be present in Sibiu to engage in dialogue with the audience.Not to be missed will be the screening of the innovative Everything, everywhere, all at once, a multiverse comedy that has become a super hit in the USA, which will benefit from a single screening in Sibiu, on Saturday, from 21:45 hrs in Habermann Markt.Sibiu residents are also expected to enjoy two impressive cine-concerts: Haxan, the Swedish horror masterpiece directed by Benjamiin Christensen in 1922, will be accompanied live by artist Maatus Pealler on Friday, July 8, at 9:45 hra in Huet Square. The Lodger, the remarkable feature film signed by Alfred Hitchcock in 1927 and inspired by the story of Jack the Ripper, will be accompanied live by DJ DUBASE, on Sunday, July 10, from 9:45 hra, also in Huet Square.The TIFF Sibiu screenings in Huet Square and within the EducaTIFF program at Cine Gold have free admission. Access to EducaTIFF films is permitted based on reserving a ticket worth 0 RON. There is no need for reservation for Huet Square.The full schedule of the four days of festival can be seen on sibiu.tiff.ro and on the Festival's Facebook page.The Transilvania International Film Festival in Sibiu is organized by the Transilvania Film Festival Association.The event is co-financed by the Sibiu Municipality and Sibiu Local Council, being organized with the support of the National Center of Cinematography.
