Tourism : 764,573 tourist arrivals in the capital in the first five months of 2024

The number of tourist arrivals in the capital was, in the first five months of 2024, 764,573, the highest number of arrivals being recorded in May, namely 173,805 and the lowest in January – 121,772, according to the data centralized by the National Institute for Statistics (INS).According to INS, most arrivals, namely 642,317(84% of the total) were registered in hotels, followed by apartments and rooms to rent, with 98,838 arrivals (13% of the total).In terms of overnight stays, the number of overnight stays between January and May 2024 was 1,535,845, with the highest number in May being 347,8589 and the lowest in January - 246,394. The net utilization index of places to stay ranged between 33.9% in January and 48.8% in May 2024 during this period. According to the INS, at the national level, in tourist accommodation facilities (including apartments and rooms for rent), 4,455,455,900 arrivals and 8,485,700 overnight stays were recorded in the first five months of this year.
