The Danube Gorge (also called the Iron Gates, in a broader sense) is the number one tourist destination of 2025, followed by the cities of Iasi and Brasov, in the top ten tourist destinations from Romania for this year proposed by the Tourism Press Club - FIJET Romania, which continues the project "The FIJET Destinations in Romania," which has now reached its 3rd edition.According to a press release, the ten destinations are Sfantu Gheorghe (rural town in the Tulcea County, in the Danube Delta area), the city of Timisoara, the mountain resort Baile Herculane, a village in Transylvania, Arieseni, the geopark Olteania de sub Munte, the city of Targu Jiu, the mountain resort of Ranca, the cities of Brasov and Iasi and the the Danube Gorge."For the third consecutive year, FIJET Romania selected ten special tourist destination in our country to make them better known both in Romania and abroad, through the FIJET World network. The initiative highlights the development of tourism in the respective areas and recognizes the efforts of all those who contribute to their promotion. The project also aims at bringing to the forefront such places in Romania where things are done with passion and professionalism from a tourism perspective," reads the abovementioned press release.In 2023, the top 3 of FIJET Romania destinations was led by Fundata, a village in the Brasov county, followed by the Bucovina region and the Danube Delta, and in 2024, the leader of the top was Rimetea, a village in Transylvania, followed by Vatra Dornei and Borsec mountain resorts.The Tourism Press Club - FIJET Romania, founded in 2008, is the national association affiliated with the International Federation of Travel Journalists and Writers (FIJET World), bringing together journalists specialized in the written, online, radio and television press.
