Tourism : Five cultural projects promoting tourist routes to get funds under Recovery and Resilience Plan

July 21, 2022

Several Roman forts, Dacian fortresses or museums in Hunedoara County will be promoted by the County Council (CJ) and included in various thematic routes recognized at the national level, after the administrative institution has been granted the necessary funding through projects submitted through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), the local authority informs on Monday.According to the Hunedoara County Council, following the assessment session in July, the Ministry of European Investments and Projects accepted five such projects, totaling 2.33 million euros, with the funds to be granted under Component 11- Tourism and Culture, within the PNRR.One of the projects refers to the Roman camp in Cigmau, which will be included in the Roman Camps Route, together with the project of the Roman camp from Micia, which has been granted funds in the first session by the Hunedoara County Council.Another winning project on the Roman Camp Route refers to the promotion and restoration of the museum building in the former capital of Roman Dacia, Ulpia Traiana Sarmizegetusa (photo), as well as access to the archeological site there. The list of objectives allowed for financing to be included with the Route of the fortresses includes the Dacian fortresses from Costesti-Blidaru and Banita. The project follows those related to the promotion of the Dacian fortress Costeti-Cetatuie and the restoration of the 10th Terrace from Sarmizegetusa Regia, which were included on the financing list in the first assessment stage."The promotion of historical monuments included in these routes and cultural-tourist routes involves the digitization and inclusion of them on a common portal created at the European level, along with objectives and historical monuments from other European Union member states," said Hunedoara County Council. The same list of objectives admitted for financing and promotion is also included with the Hunedoara Traditional Gastronomy Route, as part of the Romanian Traditional Gastronomy Route. The route from Hunedoara county includes the localities of Ostrovu Mare, from the commune of Rau de Mori, Soimus, Barsau, Pesteana, Lupeni, Petrosani and Salasu de Jos.Producers accredited by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development were included with this gastronomic route, this being one of the eligibility conditions.
