The incentive for attracting foreign tourists to Romania, known as the incoming tourism incentive, should be reintroduced in 2027, depending on budgetary constraints, as the state funds allocated for this purpose are 'very well invested,' interim Tourism Minister Irineu Darau said Monday.'As concrete measures, I believe we need to find ways in 2027 to bring back the incoming tourism incentive. We will see what is possible depending on budgetary constraints, but I believe that some state budget funds spent on reinstating the incoming tourism incentive, at an appropriate level, would be very well invested. It is guaranteed that a foreign tourist brought to Romania leaves far, far more than a few dozen euros. Of course, directly in the HoReCa sector, but also through the taxes they indirectly pay to the state,' Irineu Darau said at the launch of the sixth edition of the study White Paper on Tourism in Romania 2026.He also argued for measures that would give HoReCa companies greater flexibility regarding employment contracts.'Another point I have raised recently and would like to reiterate here is that we should find and reinstate appropriate measures to give HoReCa companies greater flexibility regarding employment contracts, particularly in view of the seasonal nature of the industry. Once again, through dialogue with the industry and through dialogue with you, I will try to advocate for these two measures. Without populism, and depending on budgetary possibilities, we should provide these two breaths of fresh air, which I consider necessary if we genuinely want next year to be one of revival, both for tourism and for the HoReCa sector,' the minister added.IMM (SME) Romania produced the sixth edition of the White Paper on Tourism in Romania 2026 in partnership with Groupama and the Ministry of Economy, Entrepreneurship and Tourism (MEDAT).
