Tourism : Over €80M Invested in Sovata Hotels to Boost Spa Tourism

September 17, 2025

Sovata Resort continues to grow and attract tourists through major investments made in recent years. In the past five years, four four-star hotels have opened here, while another underwent extensive renovations. During the same period, three three-star hotels were modernized, and numerous guesthouses, villas, and other accommodation units were built or refurbished, transforming the tourist offering into one that is both diverse and modern.   The total value of the investments exceeds €80 million, a sum that has radically changed the image of the resort and increased its accommodation capacity. Today, spa hotels alone can host around 2,000 tourists, while development plans include three more four-star hotels currently at different stages of project development.   Sovata now offers a wide range of accommodation options, from four-star hotels such as Crystal, Sovata, Pacsirta, or Bradet, to three-star hotels like Muresul, Relax, or Ursina, along with modern villas and guesthouses such as Vila Turul, Pensiunea Sylvania, Vila Noblesse, Pensiunea Comfort, or Vila Salt & Soul. The offering is completed by popular restaurants highly appreciated by visitors, including Kali, Pacsirta, Paprika, Ciuperca Mica, and Bello.   Through these investments and upgrades, Sovata strengthens its position as a leading spa resort, capable of delivering high-quality services and attracting tourists in search of relaxation, specialized treatments, and authentic experiences in a unique natural setting.   Sovata hoteliers offer competitive prices relative to the quality of services provided. Packages typically include accommodation, access to SPA centers and spa treatments, as well as meals in hotel restaurants or wellness facilities. The average budget for a 4–5-day vacation for a family of two adults and one child ranges between 3,000 and 4,500 lei, depending on the season, type of accommodation, and services selected. More and more tourists are opting for integrated packages, which further enhance the resort’s attractiveness.   Sovata is a unique destination in Romania due to its mix of SPA & wellness, nature, and tradition. The main reasons tourists choose the resort include: The benefits of Ursu Lake, the largest heliothermal lake in Europe, recognized for its therapeutic effects on rheumatic and gynecological conditions. Modern relaxation and spa treatment centers, where visitors enjoy anti-stress therapies, massages, and saltwater baths. Spectacular natural landscapes, perfect for walks around Alunis, Verde, or Negru lakes, light hikes, and guided nature tours. A peaceful atmosphere and fresh air, making Sovata a perfect retreat for families, seniors, and those seeking an active yet relaxing vacation.   Sovata was named Destination of the Year 2025 in the Spa Resorts category, during the Destination of the Year competition held in Sibiu on April 9, 2025. This award confirms the national recognition of the resort’s service quality and development efforts. (Photo:https://www.destinatiaanului.ro/)
