Trade: MerchantPro: 72 pct increase in value of 2021 online shopping orders

 Orders placed in 2021 with the regional SaaS e-commerce platform MerchantPro were 72 percent up in volume and 48 percent higher in number, shows a release issued on Monday.December 2021 also saw a significant rise in the average basket size, which was almost 30 percent higher compared to the previous year, while the annualised increase was 18 percent."December marked the end of a year of steady growth in the Romanian online business, as the stores created on the MerchantPro platform registered an advance almost as spectacular as in 2020. According to MerchantPro data, whereas in December 2020 the y-o-y increase in the value of orders was 99 percent, in December 2021, growth from the year-ago period was 75 percent," the release states.By value, the largest order placed in December was over 60,000 euros, for the purchase of specialized hospitality equipment. By product numbers, the most diversified order had 300 items and was placed in the food & beverages segment. The busiest day in terms of orders was Monday, December 13, with more than 15,000 orders placed.Apart from Bucharest which is on the first spot, the most dynamic cities by the number of orders placed were Constanta, Cluj-Napoca, Iasi and Timisoara, and most orders were placed for IT & electronics (+214 percent). Fashion, sporting and home & deco shopping was also uptick.More than 5,000 online stores have used the MerchantPro regional platform over the past 10 years. MerchantPro is a project by software company ShopMania Net, which provides Romanian and European e-commerce entrepreneurs competitive trading features, professional support services and customized solutions tailored to specific development needs. The number of active online stores using the MerchantPro SaaS e-commerce platform is in excess of 1,500.
