Trade: Study identifies Romanian shoppers' most frequently chosen FMCG brands

September 2, 2026

A soft drink brand has been named the most chosen FMCG brand by Romanian shoppers in the latest Brand Footprint 2026 study by YouGov Shopper, which tracks more than 10,000 brands across Europe and highlights which labels secure a place in consumers' baskets, how rankings shift, and what trends drive growth. For Romania, the top three FMCG brands in 2026 are Coca-Cola, Pepsi and Dr. Oetker. In category rankings, Hochland is the most chosen dairy brand, Colgate leads personal care, and Sano tops home care. Domneasca posted the strongest advance in the food segment, while Amstel recorded the most notable debut in the overall ranking. Cris-Tim enters the Top 20 for the first time, and Borsec (3) and Boromir (4) are the highest-placed local brands.Although the ranking highlights the most chosen brands of the moment, the underlying story is how shoppers are shifting behaviour and which brands respond most effectively.More than half of the brands monitored increased their CRP (Consumer Reach Points) score in 2025, reflecting millions of daily purchase decisions."The ranking shows that brand evolution isn't driven by a single trend. In Romania, consumers seek a balance between value and quality and continue to reward brands relevant to their daily lives. We also see strong local brands consolidating their position and gaining ground in a competitive environment," said Diana Scaunasu, Managing Director, YouGov Shopper Romania.Brand Footprint 2026 analyses over 10,000 FMCG brands across 14 European markets, identifying the fastest-growing labels, the consumption trends shaping demand, and the strategies that help brands secure a place in consumers' baskets. Part of the global Brand Footprint series coordinated by Worldpanel by Numerator, the full study covers 50+ markets across five continents. The YouGov Shopper study spans Western and Central-Eastern Europe: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czechia, Denmark, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia and Sweden.
