Trade: Survey:Eight in ten Romanians prefer to buy discounted designer clothing

   Over half of Romanian buyers of fashion items (57%) in urban areas buy less often, but eight in ten opt for discounted quality designer clothing, according to the findings of a survey released on last Tuesday.According to data centralised by Reveal Marketing Research, for 44% of respondents, quality is the main criterion in choosing the purchase location, while price is mentioned by 24%, and discounts by 22%.In the view of 46% of the respondents, "smart shopping" means quality products bought at a discount, and other meanings are the strictly purchase of the necessary products (35%), waiting for promotions (30%) and choosing products that last over time (27%).This redefinition is more visible among women, as 52% associate "smart shopping" with quality products on sale, compared with 39% of men. At the same time, the share reaches 51% among people with higher education.The survey shows that 79% of respondents would visit an outlet if an international brand they appreciate opened its first store in Romania there. In addition, large discounts are the main factor that would generate more frequent visits to such a place, mentioned by 66% of the respondents. The preferences are followed by more varied collections (23%), premium brands (17%), new international brands (15%) and the shopping experience (14%).Also, interest in premium brands reaches 21%, both among men and people with higher education, as against 17% at the sample level. At the same time, new international brands are mentioned by 20% of high-income respondents, compared to 15% at the total level.The quantitative survey was conducted by Reveal Marketing Research for Fashion House Militari & Pallady in August 2026, through computer assisted web interviewing, with an average completion time of ten minutes, on a sample of 1,007 respondents.
