Two years for construction of bridge complex over Prut, in Ungheni

October 28, 2024

The contract for the construction of the bridge complex over the Prut, in Ungheni, was signed on Friday, and the contractor Ness Proiect Europe has at its disposal almost 152 million RON and 24 months to achieve this goal, announced the general director of the National Infrastructure Administration Company Roads (CNAIR), Cristian Pistol, on his Facebook page."The contract for the construction of the bridge complex over the Prut, in Ungheni, was signed today! The contractor (Ness Proiect Europe SRL) has at his disposal 151.68 million RON (without VAT) and 24 months (6 months of design and 18 months of execution) for the construction of this goal," Pistol said. The set of bridges that will make the connection between Romania (Iasi County) and the Republic of Moldova (Ungheni District) consists of two parallel bridges with a mixed steel-concrete deck and continuous beam (one bridge for each direction of traffic). The longest of the two bridges will be approximately 260 meters. On the territory of Romania, the set of bridges will be built in continuation of the A8 (Targu Mures - Iasi - Ungheni highway), the CNAIR head also said. The contract is financed by the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF). The Republic of Moldova will never be isolated again, declared on Friday the President of the Parliament in Chisinau, Igor Grosu, after signing the contract on the design and construction of the bridge over the Prut, between Iasi and Ungheni. He specifies that the new road bridge will facilitate access to the highway network of the European Union, but also to the highway lot that will connect Ungheni with Chisinau."Today we witnessed a moment that Ungheni and the entire Republic of Moldova have been waiting for since the Flower Bridge in the '90s. (...) If our parents' generation, 34 years ago, built a flower bridge, we will be the generation that builds bridges to facilitate our connection between the two banks of the Prut. Access to the highway network of the European Union will be facilitated, as well as to the highway lot that will connect Ungheni with Chisinau. These are steps that prove to us that we are part of the great European family and that our place is in the European Union. With Romania's help and being part of this family, we will thus ensure that the Republic of Moldova will never be isolated again and that our citizens will have the same standard of living, income and freedom of movement as all the citizens of the European Union", stated Grosu.
