U.S. Chargé d'affaires Dickerson: Romania and the United States - partners in cybersecurity

   Romania and the United States are working together as partners in the field of cyber security, said Michael Dickerson, the Chargé d'Affaires ad interim at the U.S. Embassy in Romania, according to a press release issued by the diplomatic mission in Bucharest on Tuesday.The statement was made in the context of the Maryland National Guard Cyber Forces collaborating with the Romanian Cyber Defense Command representatives and specialists from the Land Forces General Staff, for the cyber defense of the 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment's tactical road march.This cyber exercise is part of Saber Guardian 25, the U.S. Army's largest annual security cooperation exercise along NATO's Eastern Flank, "strengthening our collaboration in a critical field, protecting our countries, keeping our citizens and military safe and strengthening international partnerships within the NATO alliance", according to the US official.The monitoring for cyber threats demonstrated the effective interoperability of U.S. and Romanian cyber capabilities in a real-world environment, bolstering NATO's cyber resilience.According to the US Embassy, the exercise facilitated the exchange of expertise between the US and Romania, enhanced the cyber defense capabilities of the participants and contributed to reinforcing the cyber defense posture on the Eastern Flank of the Alliance.Simulated scenarios included ransomware incidents, attacks on web services and attempts to gain unauthorized access to critical systems. These simulations actively contribute to strenghtening collective cyber resilience of all NATO allies and partners.Saber Guardian 25 comprises a series of exercises to rehearse NATO land component mission command and improve coordination among NATO Allied and partner forces. Saber Guardian 25, set to end on June 24, is part of DEFENDER 25, the largest annual exercise led by U.S. Army Europe and Africa, which includes over 25,000 troops from 29 Allied and partner nations.
