Unemployment rate in Romania falls to 3.3pct in February 2025

  The unemployment rate in Romania nationwide at the end of February 2025, was 3.37%, down 0.01 percentage points from thr previous month, the National Employment Agency (ANOFM) reported on Friday.The total number of the unemployed at the end of February 2025 was 268,393 people.Of the total number of registered unemployed, 58,419 were unemployed with benefits and 209,974 without benefits. The number of unemployed people with benefits decreased by 2,088, while the number of unemployed people without benefits increased by 1,316, both on a monthly basis.By residence, the number of the unemployed at the end of February: 71,382 from urban areas, and 197,011 from rural areas.The number of female unemployed as of February 28, 2025 was 124,400, while the number of male unemployed was 143,993.Most of the unemployed were between 40 and 49 years old (68,695), followed by those over 55 years old (61,251), while at the opposite end were people between 25 and 29 years old (15,614).Regarding the composition of unemployment by educational attainment, the unemployed without formal education and those with a primary education background have a significant share in the total number of unemployed, at 31.54%.The unemployed with a secondary education background make up 34.02% of the total registered unemployed, and university graduates 4.48%.
