UNHCR's Mazou tours Siret border checkpoint

A delegation led by UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Deputy High Commissioner for Operations Raouf Mazou paid a working visit on Wednesday at the Siret border checkpoint (PTF) where he found about the activity carried out in the area for the Ukrainian citizens who had to flee war in their country.According to a report from the Suceava Border Police, the UN official was welcomed by Chief of the Sighetu Marmatiei Border Police Inspectorate (ITPF) Florin Coman, who introduced Mazou to the way the Border Police personnel manage their activity.Coman pointed out that the Border Police there work at full capacity on all control arteries.At the same time, traffic figures were presented, with the mention that there is a downward trend in terms of the number of Ukrainian citizens entering Romania.It was also said that the checkpoint was equipped with mobile control stations, two buses, and the border guards are supported by Frontex Agency.The Border Police also cooperate with other law enforcement and national security people for efficient exchange of data and information, as well as the joint adoption, when needed, of the necessary case management measures so that business at PTF Siret may be conducted normally.Mazou reportedly appreciated the teamwork of the Border Police workers, thanked Coman for managing the situation, as well as for the way in which all those working on the border between Romania and Ukraine have got involved.
