The US ambassador to Romania, Darryl Nirenberg and Irineu Darau, the minister of economy, digitization, entrepreneurship and tourism discussed, at a meeting, about the economic aspect of the strategic partnership between Romania and the USA, including industry and defense sector and that of mineral resources. “I had a first meeting with Darryl Nirenberg, the new US ambassador to Romania. We talked about concrete directions which could strengthen the economic component of the strategic partnership between Romania and the United States. Discussions focused on investments and bilateral trade, including industry, defense and mineral resources,” Darau wrote on his Facebook page. According to him, other topics approached referred to digital economy, financing start-ups, tourism and investments. “We also approached digital economy, where Romania has a real advantage with the well trained labor force. The aim is to turn this advantage into investments, development and added value in economy. An important topic was backing start-ups and access to financing. We need simpler and more rapid mechanisms that reduce bureaucracy and accelerate investments. We also talked about tourism, where more coherence is needed in promotion and a more efficient collaboration with friendly countries to attract mre foreign tourists,”the economy minister said. Darau considers that Romania needs partnerships which obtain results in eoconmy, while the US is one of our most important economic partners. “The stake is to extend this partnership through investments and projects in this country,” the Romanian minister concluded.
