USR, first Romanian party to elect European Parliament candidates through all its members’ vote

The Save Romania Union (USR) announced that it is the first party in Romania to elect its candidates for the European Parliament through a “primaries” process,  that is through the vote of all over 5,300 members. The vote was conducted through an online, secure and verifiable electronic system, mentioned the same source. The USR presented on Thursday its list of candidates for the European Parliamentary elections in May 2019, among them being Deputy Cristian Ghinea and Sector 1 local councilor Clotilde Armand. The following places were occupied by Nicolae Stefanuta, Vlad Botos, Vlad Gheorghe, Reniut Naomi and Radu Ghermez. The results were announced at a press conference by USR President Dan Barna, who said that 82pct of the party’s members had expressed their option in the internal election for designating the candidates. As many as 85 members of the USR members joined the race for the European Parliamentary elections in 2019.
